Shopping for new kitchen appliances isn't my favorite thing in the world to do, but it has to be done from time to time. One lesson that I've learned over the years is to try to buy U.S. made appliances if at all possible, as they're are often times better supported and backed with a better warranty. In this brief article, I'll go over a few reasons why you might want to consider buying appliances that are made in the USA -- even if they end up being slightly more expensive.
When it comes to appliances, one thing I've noticed is my US made machines are often backed by a longer warranty. For example, my blender is made in Cleveland, OH and is backed by an unconditional 7 year warranty. Sure, it cost a bit more than a Chinese-made competitor -- but I have no doubts that it'll be in service long after the competitors give out.
Another thing that I've noticed is better customer support. With my American made appliances, I usually get a native English speaking customer service representative on the phone when I call in and I end up with a better customer service experience as a result. This takes a lot of the frustration out of the equation when it comes to dealing with service issues, and it's a preference that I have.
Hopefully this short article has given you some food for thought when it comes to buying your next small appliance. Focusing on price alone can often rob you of much of the satisfaction that comes with owning an appliance, and you should always try to purchase the highest quality at the lowest available price.
